Barbora Beck MA, Registered Provisional Psychologist
Credentials & Arenas
In these challenging times, people are experiencing higher levels of anxiety and depression as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. In the past year I have been supporting people to develop coping strategies to better deal with COVID-19 related stress. I have also been helping clients who are facing life challenges such as relationship issues, divorce and separation, low self-esteem, negative self-image, past traumas, parenting issues, health concerns etc.
I hold a Master degree in Counselling Psychology and I am registered with College of Alberta Psychologists. I have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years and deliver counselling in English, Czech, and Slovak.
I have been passionately providing counselling to individuals, couples, children and families and supporting them in their journey to mental health wellbeing. I have a psychodynamic background and in my practice I use Solution-focused approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Techniques and Emotionally-Focused Therapy for couples and families. I also work from trauma-informed and attachment-based perspective.
Things are often not what they appear and our past experiences might have negative effects on our self-esteem and self-image, how we perceive things and the way how we relate to the others. Those past experiences often prevent us from moving forward in life and keep us stuck. I can help you process challenging present and past experiences and accompany you on the journey to achieve better mental health, healthier relationships and enjoyable lives.
